Zephyr for solo flute is dedicated to and written for Christophe Brandon. The work is an evocation of the Greek god of the West Wind. There is a certain playfulness and spontaneity in the character of the work, much like the playfulness of a gentle Summer breeze.

The outer sections are played freely in a languorous manner, and frame a central scherzo-like section which is much more rythmically driving. The last section brings the work to a quiet close.

Notes:

Zephyr pour flûte seule est écrite pour Christophe Brandon, flûte. L'oeuvre est une évocation du dieu grec du vent de l'ouest. Il y a une qualité "joueur" et spontanée dans cette oeuvre, telles les jeux d'une breeze d'été.

Les parties extérieures de l'oeuvre sont jouées dans un style libre et languoreux. Elle cadrent la partie centrale qui est plus "scherzando" et rapide. La dernière partie mène l'oeuvre à une aboutissement plutôt sereine.
