"This Burning Sun of Grief and Memory..." was written for and dedicated to the French Saxophone Trio Trimurti. The work is a further reworking of the theatre music which the composer wrote for "Nevers", based on the appendix to Marguerite Duras's script for "Hiroshima Mon Amour".

The musical material is based on the central motive of this music, which represents both desire and grief which are tied together through a veil of remembrance and loss. The work is in several independant sections which are performed without pause, using all three instruments as independent voices in a typical "Trio Sonata" texture. This work could also be seen as a musical expression of performing and preparing the theatre piece, with each of the voices representing one of the individuals involved in the production.

"This Burning Sun of Grief and Memory..." est écrite pour et dédicé au Trio de Saxophones Trimurti. L'oeuvre est une elaboration de la musique de scène que le compositeur a composé pour "Nevers", pièce de théâtre tirée des appendix de "Hiroshima Mon Amour" de Marguerite Duras".

Le matériel musical est basé sur le motif central de cette musique de scène, qui represente à la fois la désire et le deuil, perçues à travers une voile de souvenirs et regrets. L'oeuvres est écrite dans une série d'interventions indépendantes qui suivent sans interruption, utilisant les trois instruments comme les voix d'indépendent d'une écriture "en trio". L'oeuvre pourrait également être vue comme l'expression musicale de l'acte de preparer et d'intérpreter la pièce de théâtre, avec chaqu'une des voix representantes une des personnes dans la production initiale.
