Arktos for Solo Oboe was written for and is dedicated to the French Oboist Delphine Reynaud..
In Greek mythology, Arktos was the one of the Hours, the daughters of Kronnos (Time) and was responsable for the last light of the day.
The work is written in an ABA form using two baroque dances, the Sarabande and the Salterello, with the Sarabande returning in a slightly varied form at the end. The work is based on an motif in fourths which is used in both sections.

Dans la mythologie grec, Arktos était une des Heures, les filles de Chronnos (le temps) et la diéesse de la dernière lueur de jour.
L'oeuvre est écrite dans une forme ABA utilisante deux danses baroques, la Sarabande et la Saterello (une danse italienne rapide tenaire), avec une re-exposition de la Sarabande dans une forme variée pour finir la pièce. L'oeuvre utilise une motive en quartes dans les deux parties.
